Summary of Week 15 Matched with Competencies
- 6.3: Develop message(s) using communication theories and/or models.
- 6.3.4: Employ media literacy skills (e.g., identifying credible sources and balancing multiple view points)
- I’ve been doing research this week on cancer awareness months and days. I like using facts and statistics in these posts rather than lots of possible symptoms because they can scare people into thinking they have all kinds of diseases when they don’t. I’ve tried to focus on prevention and prevalence.
- 6.3.4: Employ media literacy skills (e.g., identifying credible sources and balancing multiple view points)
- 3.2: Deliver health education and promotion interventions.
- 3.2.3: Implement a marketing plan.
- We have been posting on social media all week highlighting our various volunteers. Throughout the week we’ve also been working on finalizing our marketing plans for the rest of the year. There are 2 big events happening later in the year that we’ve made a ton of content for that they can use and post how ever they want when it comes to event season. I was also able to schedule our first ABCs of cancer post! I think this will be an awesome health education and promotion intervention for UCBC Cares!
- 3.2.3: Implement a marketing plan.
Reflection of Week 15
- This was a great week to be our last full week here. Volunteer appreciation week allowed us to have fun and celebrate the amazing things that happen through UCBC Cares. It was so fun to celebrate our volunteers each day and through the service awards we gave out. It reminds us of the foundation this program was built on. This week Yessica and I have done a lot of organizing, caption writing, and finalizing of content for the rest of the year. This has been our biggest task for the semester and I think we’ve done a pretty great job of setting them up for success when we’re gone. I worked on scheduling content as far out as I can. I’m sad to be leaving because I like making content right after events to be super current on social media and now I won’t be able to do that. I know the new intern can take over that role, but I’ve loved doing it and don’t want to let it go yet.
