Today was a fun day and a little chaotic. I got here and wrote my blog in the morning then met one of the social workers to talk about updates for Growing Together. We met a representative from East Georgia Cancer Coalition who donated some gas gift cards and family experience gift cards for our families. I inventoried the bags so we know what we have. The social worker and I talked about Kesem volunteers and our training/positions. I emailed with the Kesem representative to see when the packages of supplies would be arriving so I could find and organize them. I helped Molly with the assignments of my Kesem volunteers so we know where everyone will go day of. I communicated volunteering information with my Kesem volunteers as well. I printed some lyrics sheets for one of the camp songs we’ll be doing this weekend so people who have never heard it before can participate. We went back to the breast health building to get supplies for this weekend from our storage unit and put them in the new social work office. By this time lunch had been delivered. It was Moes! Molly, Yessica, and I devoured our meals in silence because we were all so hungry. After lunch I decorated our receptionists desk for her birthday tomorrow. While doing this I got an all call text from Molly because the elevators in the building went down. When this happens we have to spread volunteers out across the building to help patients who can’t use the stairs to our back, staff elevator. I spent and hour and a half helping with directing patients to and from the back elevators. It was chaos, but we made it happen until they were back up. I went to the Kesem storage unit after work to get supplies for Growing together this weekend!
