UCBC was closed yesterday because of the ice storm and we had a late start today so I didn’t come in until 11am. Because of the late opening, the morning volunteer shifts were canceled so Molly, Amy, and I filled in for the 1st floor ambassadors. We greeted patients and their caregivers, got them wheelchairs if they needed, and made sure they knew where they were going. Once the afternoon volunteers got in at noon Amy and I went up to her office to work. The first thing I did was make new flyers for Look Good Feel Better since it was rescheduled because of the ice storm. Once Amy gave the okay I had Molly print them for me. I went through the building to replace all of the old flyers I had put up and circulated on the infusion floor to pass out small flyers to patients. While doing this I met a very sweet family and had a nice conversation with them. The woman receiving treatment was cold so I got her a donated hat from our stock. She loved it and the gentleman with her gave me a $20 donation to pay it forward. While I was on the infusion floor I checked on the volunteers and chatted with them for a while. I headed back to Amy’s office where I edited our January newsletter to staff to reflect the rescheduled Look Good Feel Better date. I got to post using the Meta Business Suite for the first time for Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. I made the graphic for this post and Yessica helped me pare down the bulky statistics I found regarding cervical cancer into a cute, engaging caption. After that I showed Amy the content calendar Yessica and I made on Friday to organize everything and she liked it so we will be using that from now on. Amy asked me to make a spreadsheet for Strollin for the Colon to organize sponsorships, expenses, and volunteers, so I made that I modeled after a sheet they used last year for Kickin for a Cure. Amy and I also ordered birthday party supplies for Molly’s birthday on Friday! It’s cookie themed and I’m very excited to celebrate with her.
