Today started with Yessica and I working on our blogs together, trying to understand WordPress. We learned a few things, but the blogs still aren’t perfect so hopefully we will continue to learn! While we were waiting for Amy to get here we started working on some of our social media posts. The main thing I was working on is called Wishlist Wednesday. It’s something we do with Kesem that I wanted to bring to UCBC Cares. The posts advertise our Amazon wishlist with cute pictures and themes to encourage people to purchase items we need. It really helps donors to see exactly where their money is going, so I like to show the item in action. These will be posted once a month with rotating themes. Molly got us connected to their photo circle and showed us where we can find photos from all of their major events to use in posts and newsletters. I’m planning to have a little photo shoot with the volunteers within the next few days to prep all of my Wishlist Wednesday posts. While looking at social media, Yessica and I also started working on the January staff newsletter from UCBC Cares. It’s called The Care Connection. We added all the event dates for January and February that providers can tell their patients about. There will be a small spotlight for us as new interns. Each month we are also going to address each cancer awareness month. January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month so I also did a little research on cervical cancer. Once Amy got to work we went up to her office to talk through our content calendar for the year again with deadlines for us to meet. Yessica and I are going to meet with Amy every Monday at 9am to present our work on social media posts, newsletter, etc to receive feedback or get them approved to post. The other big thing we worked on today was compiling all donations for our Breast Friends event in February. We went through months of messages between Amy and the other UCBC employees that are helping with the event to find all of the sponsorships and donated items we will be receiving for the event so Amy can follow up on everything and have a rough estimate of how much money we will be making at the event. Then we had lunch catered by Health Appetite. It was delicious and we hung out with Molly while we ate. We chatted about some of the history of UCBC Cares and learned more about her. After lunch we continued our work for Breast Friends and talked about scheduling some of our big fundraiser events for the fall.
